Dear Friends and Family,

READ 1 KINGS 21:1 THROUGH 22:53

Life is filled with decisions. Where should I live and work? Whom should I marry? Where should I go to church? Myriads of articles, counselors, books, and websites promise to help people make the best decisions possible. Unlike many people today, Jehoshaphat knew where to find the right answers.

But Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel, “First seek the counsel of the Lord” (1 Kings 22:5).

Wicked King Ahab asked King Jehoshaphat to help him go to war to reclaim his land. The godly Jehoshaphat agreed, but urged his new ally to ask for God’s guidance before they did anything else. Through His prophet, God warned Ahab that he would die. Ahab disregarded this warning and was killed in battle.

Neglecting to heed God’s warning or to consult Him first does not normally end in death. However, seeking God first will prevent much pain and heartache. He is always for your good. He loves you with an everlasting love. He wants the very best for His precious children. You can trust Him to lead you in paths of righteousness if you will just ask Him for direction first.

Prayer Suggestion: Father, please help me to seek You before I make decisions in every part of my life.
