READ EZRA 6:1 THROUGH 8:36

Have you ever purchased a piece of furniture, like a desk or a table, that came in pieces in a box? If so, then you had to assemble it. Assembly is usually much easier if you first read the instructions and then follow them.

The Jews returning to Jerusalem to rebuild the city and the temple also needed to follow the instructions God had given them in the Mosaic Law. God also provided them with Ezra, who had studied the Law carefully and could teach it to all the people.

For Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observance of the Law of the Lord, and to teaching its decrees and laws in Israel (Ezra 7:10).

The Lord’s provision of instructions as well as a teacher was a source of comfort, direction, and inspiration to the returnees.

God has provided instructions for Christians in the Scriptures. He has also provided the Holy Spirit as a perfect teacher. Through these, Christians have access to a source of comfort, direction, and inspiration.

Prayer Suggestion: Father, help me always remember that Your Word provides the perfect instructions to successfully follow and serve You.
