Dear Friends,
READ PSALMS 11:1 THROUGH 18:50
A severe storm wreaked havoc in a coastal community. Homes were lost, and various belongings floated in the streets, hung trapped in trees, or were washed out to sea. One church fellowship had the foresight to build on higher ground, with construction to withstand strong winds. Several in the community sought refuge there, and of those who gathered within its walls, some were members, but many were not—it was their first opportunity to see the facility and the people of God in action.
When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalm 11:3).
Safe inside their temporary shelter, as food, blankets, and first aid were provided, people began to tell of their experiences. In the weeks that followed, those who could return home did so and worked to reclaim their former lives. The congregation worked tirelessly to help wherever possible. A few families took those less fortunate into their homes. By doing this, they shared the gospel in such a way that many who formerly were uninterested came to know Christ and joined the church.
In the midst of chaos and turmoil, it is the opportunity of the believer to share their faith in word and deed. Showing the love of Christ to those who are impacted by things beyond their control.
Prayer Suggestion: God, help me to share my faith with those in need of Jesus’ embrace.
