Dear Friends,
READ PROVERBS 9:1 THROUGH 12:28
Lisa worked hard to be close to God. She read her Bible daily. She diligently recited the Lord’s Prayer. She never missed a church service.
But her new friend Sarah sensed something was missing in Lisa’s life. She never saw any joy in the woman’s face. Feeling a prompt from the Holy Spirit, she asked Lisa, “Could you tell me about your walk with God?”
Lisa replied, “Mom taught me that Christians need to follow specific rules. So I do what she said because I want to go to heaven.”
“But Christianity isn’t just about a list of rules,” Sarah explained. “God wants a personal relationship with us so He can guide us step-by-step through life.”
Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning (Proverbs 9:9).
Because of Lisa’s deep longing to be close to God, she developed a personal relationship with Christ. The baptism in the Holy Spirit soon followed. Now her face radiates joy as she walks through life, not because she follows rules, but because of her relationship with God.
Prayer Suggestion: Lord, show me people I can lead into a deeper walk with You.
