Dear Friends,
READ: ZECHARIAH 11:1 THROUGH 14:21
Throughout the centuries, kings have reigned in ways that either improved the lives of their subjects or brought great misery. Many would use their thrones for their own benefit. They would pursue their personal goals and ambitions, even if that meant wars with other kingdoms.
The Bible relates many accounts of kings who selfishly sought greater power, more land, and increased wealth. The common people often struggled through life as the royal leaders plundered the kingdom. Many lives were lost in military conflicts as kings around the world tried to establish great names for themselves.
Unity is impossible for worldly kingdoms.
The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name (Zechariah 14:9).
Soon all the kingdoms of the earth will cease to exist. Jesus Christ will return from heaven to establish His eternal kingdom. He will reign in majesty and power, and His redeemed children will worship Him in a kingdom of peace and love. The King of kings will reign forever!
Challenge for Today: Joyfully await the return of Jesus to establish His Kingdom on earth.
