Dear Friends,
READ: JOHN 14:1 THROUGH JOHN 16:33
Visiting Whittier, Alaska, proves a difficult task with only one road leading to town. A single-lane tunnel is the only entrance to town, and it closes at night. Most of the two hundred-plus residents survive in this isolated and cold land by living under one roof. The Begich Towers house the majority of the residents and a market, post office, and church. Making a trip to Whittier does not happen by accident. It must be a planned destination.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
Jesus made access to heaven a one-way road, through himself. He opened that road to heaven by coming to earth and dying on the cross for sins. Sins blocked the way to God. By His dying and rising again, the path was opened, and all who believe in Him may walk that road to heaven. Like a visit to Whittier, this trip does not happen by accident. It is a planned destination whose map is found in the Word and whose source is found in Jesus.
Thought for Today: Take the way labeled “Jesus” and find the Father waiting for you at the end.
