Dear Friends,

Today I want to share a story about what can happen in the church. Names have been changed and this did not happen at COH.

Bob didn’t like Deacon Jones. No one really knew why, only that Bob’s faultfinding never seemed to stop. He complained whenever the deacon was chosen to serve Communion or take up the offerings. Bob would pull people aside after church services and try to stir up conflict. A few people listened to the gossip, but most saw it for what it was—a judgmental attitude. As for Deacon Jones, he never reciprocated. Finally, the pastor decided to set up a meeting between the two and see if they could iron things out.

Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister (Romans 14:13).

The intervention meeting didn’t go all that well, but at least Bob agreed to keep his opinions to himself. Perhaps the old cliché says it best: if you don’t have something nice to say, then don’t say anything at all. Of course, a change of heart is the best solution. For that transformation, however, one must seek God through repentance.

Prayer Suggestion: Lord, if I have offended anyone, please forgive me and help me to make it right.
