Dear Friends,
READ 2 CORINTHIANS 10:1 THROUGH 13:14
The Christmas story demonstrates the importance of humility. The details of Jesus’ birth speak to weakness, not strength; poverty, not wealth; humility, not status. Yet from these humble beginnings, the story of the redemption of humanity springs forth.
The desire to be esteemed over others is a part of the DNA of fallen humanity. People who follow Jesus are given a new nature. This new nature allows the person to accept a humble place if it serves to magnify Jesus and fulfill His purposes.
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Christians must be less concerned about position and more concerned about being willing vessels to be used by God in the manner He desires. If a Christian is given a place of honor, that person should recognize it as an act of God’s mercy.
Challenge for Today: Evaluate your attitude when you are not treated as you desire.
