Dear Friends,

The Assembly of God church in Tonopah, Nevada, was off the beaten path—halfway between Reno and Las Vegas—built on a lone hilltop outside of town. The church had been without a pastor for almost a year. Despite sending newsletters and seeking help from the district, no one was found. Few ministers wanted to pastor a church of seven members for ten dollars a week.

“For a long time Israel was without the true God, without a priest to teach and without the law. But in their distress they turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and sought him, and he was found by them” (2 Chronicles 15:3–4).

Frustrated by their situation, the church members devoted a week to prayer and fasting. They followed that week with another and more after that. Interestingly, after they turned to God through determined and unified prayer, God met their need. Likewise, when the nation of Judah sought the Lord, they found Him and the solutions they desired. Our fervent prayers are never a waste of time.

Challenge for Today: Pray until God answers.
