Dear Friends,
As we read through the Book of Psalms, we find a rich source of encouragement and instruction. Psalm 1 has been used in many settings. Verse 1 reminds Christians that it matters who their friends are. Verse 3 contains a great promise that tells Christians that they can succeed in all they do. But verse 2 holds the real secret to success.
Blessed is the one . . . whose delight is in the law of the Lord and who meditates on his law day and night (Psalm 1:1–2).
The idea of “delight” takes Bible reading to a whole new level. It means more than simply reading to check off another task on a “to do” list. It is more than studying out of obligation. It means finding pleasure and value in God’s Word.
Meditating implies that verses or phrases lodge in your mind and heart. You are to think about those phrases, and they will become guiding principles. It is only then that the promise of success becomes a reality.
Challenge for Today: Read and study God’s Word and memorize phrases to take with you through the day.
